Field Trips

Member Field Trips

    Note that you must provide your own transportation.

Monthly trips are scheduled September through May on the third Saturday. Most trips start at 8 AM and end around 12:30. Participants must provide their own transportation.


Saturday, October 15, 2022:  Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge

Join Houston Audubon for an early morning birding adventure to the Anahuac National Wildlife Refuge. This trip will be led by Conservation Specialist Wyatt Egelhoff.


Saturday, November 19, 2022: Keith Weiss Park

Join Houston Audubon for an early morning birding adventure to the Keith Wiess Park in Houston TX. This is a 500-acre park with over 7 miles of trails. Your leaders will be Education Director Mary Anne Weber and Conservation Director Kelsey Biles.


Saturday, January 21, 2023: Bolivar Peninsula

Your leader for this birding adventure is Land Director Pete Deichmann.


Saturday, February 18, 2023: Lake Houston Wilderness in New Caney

Your leader for this birding adventure is Environmental Educator and Staff Naturalist Shelby Fletcher.


Saturday, March 18, 2023: Dos Vacas Muertas Bird Sanctuary on Galveston Island

Your leader for this birding adventure is Sanctuary Steward Trey Morris.


Saturday, April 15, 2023: Winters Bayou Bird Sanctuary

Your leader for this birding adventure is Conservation Specialist Berri Moffett.


Saturday, May 20, 2023: Brazos Bend State Park

Your leader for this birding adventure is Education Director Mary Anne Morris.


Field Trip Guidelines

  • Participation

    Each trip will have a limited number of participants, normally 25, and participation will be on a first-come, first-served basis. There may be some field trips in which the number of participants will vary from the 25 stated above, depending on the logistics of the trip. A trip may be canceled if there are not enough participants.

  • Houston Audubon field trips are a benefit of membership. Each participant must be a Houston Audubon local member or be a guest of a Houston Audubon local member. Not a Houston Audubon member?
