Coralbean is an attractive thorny shrub or small tree. It grows best in sun or part shade and is tolerant of both sandy and clay soils. In mild winters, it won't die back to the ground and can reach up to 25 feet. After a freeze, new growth will emerge in the spring. Caution: the bright red seeds are poisonous to humans.
