Birdathon for the Classroom
Get your students outside this spring! Birdathon is an opportunity for your students to discover a new passion and learn more about environmental conservation. Birds connect kids to the natural world and birding can get your students outside, increase classroom engagement, encourage environmental stewardship, and deepen personal development. Classes are not required to fundraise, and you can bird your own way! Instead of focusing on a 24-hour period, you can utilize the full birding period through May 6! Whether you set aside time each week for your class to observe birds, engage them in a bird-friendly activity like planting a native garden or setting up a bird feeder, or make it a fun classroom challenge, there are many ways to get your class involved. Plus, teachers get a free toolkit with birding resources and sticker sheets for your students!
Hands-On Birding Opportunities
New this year! Houston Audubon and partners will offer guided birding opportunities around town in conjunction with Birdathon. These bird walks will give participants some hands-on birding experience so you can feel comfortable forming your own Birdathon team afterward and competing!
Please note that registration may be required for some walks.
