Raptor Center Work Party
Join us at the Raptor and Education Center at Sims Bayou for a morning of gardening and sanctuary maintenance. We work 8AM – 12PM, once a month on the 1st Wednesday, September through June. Activities include trail maintenance, filling bird feeders and baths, litter pick-up, native gardening, and invasive species removal. It's a great way to enjoy the outdoors and help out in the community! Bring water, sunscreen, bug repellent & gloves. Wear closed-toe shoes & long pants. Bring sack lunch if desired. Children of any age are welcome with their parent/chaperone. (Minimum age without a parent/chaperone is 14 years.) There is a maximum number of 8 participants at a workday.
We will work to ensure that social distancing is maintained and that current public health precautions are being followed for each work party, and we ask that volunteers take an active role in this effort as well.

Coastal Natives Nursery Volunteer Work Day
Please join us for a Entergy Coastal Natives Nursery volunteer workday! Extending the work of the legendary Houston Audubon Natives Nursery at Edith L. Moore, our High Island nursery location is growing out dozens of coastal-adapted species for restoration projects on all of our sanctuaries. Work days are on the second Thursday of every month from 8-11 am.
Join Natives Nursery manager Berri Moffett, Conservation Specialist Wyatt Egelhoff, and our field technicians to learn all about propagation of native plants. If you are already familiar with the process, even better! We would love to have your leadership and expertise on the team.
Bring gloves, hat, sturdy shoes, and a refillable water bottle. We will provide water and some snacks. All tools and materials are provided.

High Island Work Day
Meet us at this internationally known birding hot spot and help us beautify one of our 4 nature sanctuaries here, improving both the visitor infrastructure and wildlife habitat. This is a great opportunity to get outside while making a difference.
Volunteers who help out at High Island Work Days are treated to a delicious meal prepared by our lunch crew.
Work Days are held once a month, October through March on the second Saturday of the month. We start work around 8:30 AM and work until about noon, when we break for lunch, provided by Houston Audubon and prepared by the lunch crew. Lunch at the picnic area of Boy Scout Woods is a good chance to visit with other volunteers and recharge from a morning of exercise and work . After lunch, we take about an hour to tie up any loose ends and clean up. Please bring your own refillable water bottles and lots of ice water.
