Habitat Hawks Volunteer Day
This July, the Habitat Hawks initiative will return to Edith L Moore. The goal of this volunteer group is to remove invasive species like arrow root and air potato from the sanctuary to maintain habitat for our beneficial natives. If you are passionate about invasive removal, and have been looking for a way to volunteer with the sanctuary, this is the program for you! All training will be given as part of the work day so there is no orientation required. More details will be sent to those the register closer to the event.

Purple Martin Watch Party
Volunteer Need - Purple Martin Watch Parties
From July to September, Houston's Purple Martins spend most of the day feeding on flying insects to build energy for their long journey across the Gulf of Mexico. At dusk, they form large flocks and roost together in preparation for migration. For the dates above, Houston Audubon, along with CenterPoint Energy, will be presenting Purple Martin Watch Parties in open areas near these roosts to witness the spectacle! We need volunteers to join us at these parties to visit with guests and pass out information about purple martins and powerline safety.
