Raptor Center Work Party
Join us at the Raptor and Education Center at Sims Bayou for a morning of gardening and sanctuary maintenance. We work 9 AM – 12 PM, once a month on the 3rd Saturday, September through May. Activities include trail maintenance, filling bird feeders and baths, litter pick-up, native gardening, and invasive species removal. It's a great way to enjoy the outdoors and meet like-minded friends! Bring water, sunscreen, bug repellent & gloves/clippers if you have them. Wear closed-toe shoes & long pants. Bring sack lunch if desired. Children of any age are welcome with their parent/chaperone. (Minimum age without a parent/chaperone is 14 years.) There is a maximum number of 15 participants at a workday.

Houston Audubon and Discovery Green Film Screening

Houston Audubon and Discovery Green present a screening of The Messenger , a 2015 documentary about mankind's connection to songbirds.
Activities start at 6 PM:
- Meet the Houston Audubon education raptors
- Sample PALEican beer brewed by Bakfish Brewing Co.
- Pop-up Birding Station
- Crafts for kids
Movie Screening at 7 PM, following a short talk by Lina Dib, artist of the Here and Now sound installation complementing Paloma.
Blankets, lawn chairs, and picnics welcome. No glass containers or outside alcoholic beverages.
Part of the program series supporting Paloma, sponsored by PNC Bank, a public art installation of 200 colorful aluminum "origami" birds which are illuminated after dusk and accompanied by choreographed sounds.

We work 9 AM – 12 PM, once a month on the 4th Saturday from September through April (3rd Saturday in November and December).
