Birdathon Workshop 2018

Birdathon Workshop 2018

A great turnout enjoyed wonderful spring weather for the Birdathon Workshop on the outdoor deck of the cabin at Edith L. Moore Nature Santuary on Sunday, March 11, 2018. That shows good enthusiasm for our annual birding competition.

Nichol Chambers, Events Coordinator, acted as emcee for the workshop. Cin-Ty Lee gave a demonstration of eBird, showing how to enter observations and contribute to citizen science. Barbara Tilton shared tips for fundraising and stories about communicating with people to donate to your team. Sarah Flournoy gave a lot of creative ideas about how to conduct your birding adventure such as travelling by bike. Glenn Olsen gave a presentation on bird identification, binocular specifications, and discussed general rules of birding etiquette. As if on cue, a sizeable group of birds descended on the feeders beside the cabin at the end allowing Glenn to point out identifying characteristics.
