Preferred Habitat: Flooded fields.
Seasonal Occurrence: Rare in spring.
Notes: The Hudsonian Godwit is slightly smaller than the much more common Marbled Godwit. In spring it may be found in flooded rice fields around Anahuac and Winnie. The male in breeding plumage is distinctive with chestnut breast and pale gray head. Females are muted gray and can be easily confused with Marbled Godwits. Hudsonian Godwits breed in only a few sites in northern Canada and Alaska. Populations have been difficult to census. Damage to its limited breeding grounds could cause severe threats.
