About the State Park
Sheldon Lake State Park is a 2,800-acre park composed of wetland, prairie, and forest landcovers. Historically, the park was a fish hatchery but the fish ponds now are being reclaimed by nature and form great ponds for birding, herping, and fishing. Birders often report Ibis, a variety of waterfowl, and occasionally a Limpkin. Towards the prairie you can find meadowlarks, American Kestrels, and a variety of sparrows.
