Description: Perennial. Mexican Hat is not common on the Bolivar Peninsula. Look for it in prairies and roadsides. Although it performs well in dry conditions, supplemental water during dry spells will prolong its bloom period.

The Wildlife Connection: The nectar content of coneflowers is high so it attracts bees, butterflies, and other insects. Its seeds are also eaten by many species of birds.
