ELMNS Trail Crew

ELMNS Trail Crew

Trail Crew plays a vital role in maintaining the sanctuary’s trails and facilities. Tasks vary weekly and often include spreading mulch to prevent erosion, clearing litter from Rummel Creek, repairing boardwalks and signage, and helping care for the grounds of our historic log cabin.

This is a physically demanding volunteer opportunity—trail work can be tiring, especially during Houston’s hot and humid summers—but it’s also deeply rewarding. Our Trail Crew helps ensure that ELMNS remains safe, beautiful, and accessible to visitors year-round.

Trail Crew meets every Tuesday morning at Edith L. Moore. All tools are provided, and the work is directed by our Sanctuary Lead. No prior experience is needed—just a positive attitude, closed-toe shoes, and plenty of water!

While we welcome all who are interested and able to participate, we want to be upfront that this opportunity can be quite different from volunteering in our Native Plant Nursery. If you're looking for a more hands-on, physically active way to support habitat restoration, Trail Crew might be just the thing. Let us know you’re interested by signing up for our distribution list!
