Survey Leaders: John Carey and Alicia Mein-Johnson

Led by Jones staff members John Carey and Alicia Mein-Johnson, along with volunteers, the survey takes place on the first Saturday of the month from 8 AM to 10 AM. Birders of all skill levels who are at least 12 years old are welcome; no pets, please. Wear closed-toed shoes and bring your own binoculars, although we have a few to borrow. About the Park

Jesse H. Jones Park and Nature Center is a Harris County Precinct 3 park spanning over 300 acres. It borders Spring Creek and the Spring Creek Greenway, with viewing opportunities in riparian woodlands, open prairies, and water features including ponds, oxbow lakes and Spring Creek. With close proximity to Lake Houston and the San Jacinto River, we often see gulls, pelicans, herons and spoonbills. Birders can expect to see quite a variety of residential and migratory birds, too, like woodpeckers, eagles, bluebirds and wrens. There are feeders on the porch of the nature center which attract songbirds and hummingbirds.
