McFarlane Marsh, Champions, and Garwood Properties

McFarlane Marsh

Inaccessible to the public except by water, this 65.87 acres of high quality salt marsh on the north shore of West Galveston Bay was donated to Houston Audubon in 1993 and named after ornithologist Dr. Robert McFarlane, a former member of the HAS Board of Directors and Board of Advisors. It is not open to the public.

Champions Property

This 13-acre tract of mixed pine and oak woods in the Champions area of northwest Houston was donated to Houston Audubon in 1995 as mitigation for a planned real estate development. It is not open to the public at present.

Garwood Property

A 2-acre tract adjacent to Lake Houston, this property was donated to Houston Audubon in 1991 without restrictions. It is not open to the public.
