Bolivar Beach Cleanup

Saturday, September 15,  9 AM - 1 PM

We are planning a volunteer workday at Bolivar Flats on Adopt-A-Beach day -- Saturday, September 15. We will be focusing on picking up litter and debris from the beach and dune areas as well as along the sides of Rettilon Road. We will meet at the far west end of the beach at the vehicle barrier at 9 AM and work until around 1 PM. These cleanups provide great opportunities to witness the wildlife of Bolivar, the activity on the ship channel, and experience hands-on conservation by keeping our beaches clean. Beach parking permits are not required during cleanups. Email Pete Deichmann at pdeichmann@houstonaudubon.org for more information if you are interested in helping us clean up our Bolivar Flats Sanctuary. Please feel free to bring along your friends and family. Hope to see you there.

High Island Workdays

Workdays are held once a month, October through March on the second Saturday of the month. We start work around 8:30 AM and work until about noon, when we break for lunch, provided by Houston Audubon and prepared by the lunch crew. Lunch at the picnic area of Boy Scout Woods is a good chance to visit with other volunteers and recharge from a morning of exercise and work. After lunch, we take about an hour to tie up any loose ends and clean up.

Come be a part of sanctuary maintenance, habitat restoration, and Houston Audubon's amazing volunteer workforce. Email Pete Deichmann at pdeichmann@houstonaudubon.org for more information or to be put on the email list.
