Frequently Asked Questions about the Photo Blind

  • What are the hours I can use the photoblind?

The hours are from sunrise to sunset.

  • I assume we can come and go as we please. If we want to leave for a bit to check out Smith Oaks or another area and come back, can we do so?

The seat you reserved is yours all day. You can come and go as you like, but we are not responsible for anything left in the blind.

  • Are there chairs in the blind or do we need to bring our own?

There are chairs in the blind. However, you are welcome to bring your own.

  • Where exactly in Boy Scout Woods is the blind?

The blind is down the boardwalk straight from the kiosk and just around the corner in the old barn building on the right side of the boardwalk.

  • Do we need to check in somewhere, or is it unlocked and we just show up?

You can just show up, but we ask you come by the kiosk to let us know you're there. You are welcome to go on in the blind before we actually open the kiosk at 8:00 and come back by the kiosk later to check in. The gates are not locked.

  • What time of day has the most bird activity?

Any one day is impossible to predict, but in general, afternoons are better than the morning.
