Red-cockaded Woodpecker Roost Checks

by Donna Work, Biologist with the Texas Forest Service

It is getting close to the time of year when I need Red-cockaded Woodpecker population data from the Jones State Forest. Of course, I can use information all year long, but it is especially needed before and during nesting season.

I would sure like to recruit folks to do morning roost checks at Jones Forest when and if you can. I've attached guidelines and a form you can use. In a couple of weeks, I'll be going to the Jones and will try to have time to scope out areas that need to be checked and come up with a map to send you or have at the office.

Thanks! My contact information is below if you have any questions.
