Calidris bairdii

Family: (Scolopacidae) Sandpipers

Preferred Habitat: Wet fields, marshes, beaches.

Seasonal Occurrence: Occasional spring and fall.

Notes: The long wingtips which extend past the tail help to distinguish this species, giving it a more horizontal appearance than some other sandpipers. It resembles the White-rumped Sandpiper but has darker, buffy-brown plumage. Baird's Sandpipers occur in small numbers during spring and fall migration.
