Wish List

  • Sanctuary Tools: The Sanctuary Team needs your help with some new equipment for trail maintenance: one light weed wrench ($160) and 2 medium weed wrenches ($187 each). Contact: Richard Gibbons at rgibbons@houstonaudubon.org.

  • Dos Vacas Muertas: We are seeking funds to restore, improve and manage our Dos Vacas Muertas Sanctuary on West Galveston Island. Highlights from our plan include removing hazardous trees; purchasing and installing larger replacement trees and shrubs; and continuing to remove hurricane debris. Goal: $15,000. Contact: Richard Gibbons at rgibbons@houstonaudubon.org.

  • S.O.S. Save Our Sanctuaries
    Urgent Drought Relief
: The current drought is having a serious impact at our sanctuaries. At the Edith L. Moore Nature Sanctuary, drought conditions are causing trees and trees limbs to fall. For safety purposes we need funds for tree removal. It costs $1,500 per day for an insured professional tree cutting crew. On the coast, help is needed to maintain sufficient water levels at Claybottom Pond and for water at our restoration projects. Any amount you can contribute to the drought relief effort is welcome and very appreciated. More information

  • Sunflower Seed: Our sunflower seed supply at Edith L. Moore Nature Sanctuary is running seriously low. If you would like to help, please contact Bethany Foshee at docent@houstonaudubon.org.

  • Computer Gear: Please consider donating your old PC laptop or LCD Monitor (19" or larger) to Houston Audubon. We'll put it to good use! Laptops should be in reasonable working order with a Pentium 4 or later processor. Contact: Susan Billetdeaux at webmaster@houstonaudubon.org.
