Nature Explorers Camp

Docent CampExplore nature in a big way this summer! Eco-adventures await you as we uncover the world of wildlife here in our own Bayou City. Hike the trails each day as we investigate our forest’s habitats. Make nature crafts to take home. Catch tadpoles and fish in the ponds and get up close with fascinating native animals. From tracks on the trail to calls in the clouds, we’ll use all of our senses to uncover the wild worlds lurking just outside your own backdoor!
Schedule: 9 AM - Noon, Monday-Friday. Five sessions in 2013: June 10-14, June 17-21, June 24-28, July 1-5, July 8-12

Art in Nature Camp

Explore the beauty in nature all around us. We’ll spend the week adding to our nature scrapbooks, painting watercolors along the creek, designing crafts and sculptures using natural materials, and we’ll even create our own whimsical animal creatures!
Schedule: July 15-19, 2013, 9 AM - Noon, Monday-Friday.

New! Habitat Hideaways Camp

People live in buildings, but what about our animal neighbors? In this jungle construction camp, we’ll learn how to build like a beaver and nest like a newt! We’ll dig kid-size burrows out in the forest. We’ll spin giant spider webs along the trail. And we’ll create our very own crawfish chimneys around the pond. Join us for the fort-building fun!
Schedule: July 22-26, 2013, 9 AM - Noon, Monday-Friday.

New! Creepy & Crawly Camp

Roly-polies and spiders and worms. oh my! Spend the week investigating the ‘creepy crawly’ world of insects and invertebrates. Through field studies, animal encounters, art projects and science games, we’ll discover the amazing adaptations and incredible lives of the tiny but mighty bugs that cover our planet!
Schedule: July 29-August 2, 2013, 9 AM - Noon, Monday-Friday.

Docent Camp7-11 yr-old Camp

Pond Camp

For our most daring adventurers, we’ll spend this action-packed week exploring the exciting, underwater world of our creeks, ponds, bays and bayous. We’ll design our own pond aquariums, investigate the animals that live beneath the water’s edge, and explore the hidden habitats of Rummel Creek.
Schedule: August 5-9, 2013, 9 AM - 12:30 PM, Monday-Friday.

11-12 yr-old Camp

Survivor Camp

Do you have what it takes to survive in the wild? We’ll test our nature survival skills as we learn to build shelters, filter our own water, start a fire without a match, cook using the sun, and make a tasty snack from plants (and bugs!) found here in our forest. New this year, we’ll all gather back together on Friday night to test our orienteering skills after dark, camp-out in our shelters, and enjoy a tasty campfire meal!
Schedule: August 12-16, 2013, 9 AM - 12:30 PM, Monday-Friday. Optional Nighttime Camp-Out: Friday, August 16th: 6:00-9:00pm
